Quality Assurance for the Memorial Industry

Business Requirements

Eligibility and Application Process

Businesses wishing to be included on the Register of Qualified Memorial Fixers (RQMF) must submit the required information to the RQMF Administrator. Eligible businesses may include:

  • Self-employed individuals engaged in the fixing, re-fixing, or repair of memorial masonry.
  • Employees of businesses who are required to engage in the fixing, re-fixing, or repair of memorial masonry.

Once the relevant information is submitted and the business meets the necessary criteria, accreditation will be granted, and the business will be placed on the Register. Businesses must maintain compliance with the information provided during initial registration and notify the RQMF Administrator of any changes as they occur.

All required information must be provided using the RQMF Business Application Form, available for download.

For assistance, please contact the RQMF Administrator at info@rqmf.org.uk.

Exemptions

Members of the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) are not required to submit information during application or renewal, as these details are already verified as part of NAMM membership.

Note: NAMM members will be allocated a unique membership registration number, which should be quoted on all RQMF correspondence. This information will be cross-checked against the NAMM membership database.

Business Registration Renewal

For existing RQMF-registered businesses, the RQMF Administrator will issue an annual invoice with payment options. Registration renewals are processed annually on 31st December. New applications received before the renewal date will be invoiced for the remaining portion of the current year.

Business certificates will be issued for the applicable registration year.

Updating Business Details

It is the business’s responsibility to inform the RQMF Administrator immediately of any changes to:

  • Company address
  • Named contacts
  • Telephone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Named fixers

Fixers

Each registered business must list at least one RQMF-registered fixer who undertakes memorial fixing for the business. If any information regarding a listed fixer changes, the RQMF Administrator must be notified. A qualified fixer must be present during all memorial fixings.

Settlement of registration invoices confirms the accuracy of the supplied details. The RQMF cannot be held responsible for incorrect information provided during the application process.

RQMF Logo Usage

The RQMF logo is exclusive to RQMF-registered businesses and must be used appropriately.

  • The NAMM members’ logo must only be used by full retail members of NAMM. Misuse of this logo may result in removal from the Register and potential breaches of Trading Standards regulations.

Terms & Conditions

All RQMF-registered businesses must:

  • Ensure their registered fixers comply with the NAMM Code of Working Practice and BS8415.
  • Confirm that fixers are familiar with risk assessment processes and their importance.
  • Agree to abide by the decisions of any independent disciplinary committee investigating breaches of fixing standards.

Data Protection

All personal information submitted will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. By applying for RQMF registration, businesses consent to their information being published on the public Register. Registered fixers have the right to access and request corrections to their data at any time or request removal from the database.
